A name made of ink and attention.

Why we called it Inkspect, and what the eye inside the drop means to us.

Every piece of code begins with an idea. Someone writes it down, changes it, and gives it shape. A review is the moment another person pauses to understand what that idea has become.

Two words, one point of view

Inkspect brings together ink and inspect. Ink is the act of making a mark. Inspection is the attention we give that mark: reading carefully, understanding a decision, and noticing the detail that might have slipped past.

We wanted a name that could hold both sides of the work. Writing code is creative. Reading it well takes curiosity and care. The name makes room for both.

The eye inside the drop

The ink drop is our starting point. The eye cut into it represents a closer look, while the narrow opening below it recalls a pen nib. Making and understanding share one small shape.

Good review starts with respect for the code, and the person who wrote it.

Black and white give that shape room to speak. We chose a restrained visual language for the same reason we value a focused review comment: attention should go to what matters.

Carry the idea into the product

A name is useful only if the product lives up to it. For Inkspect, that means findings with context, explanations a developer can follow, and room for the team to make its own decision.

The thought we keep returning to is simple: every line deserves a second look. It is a principle for the way we review code, and for the care we put into building the tool itself.

Inkspect

Every line. Worth a second look.
